Gore Remhashu: The year of locusts, reflects how our ancestors marked time not by numbered years or recorded dates of birth, but through lived experience and collective memory. Catastrophic events, such as locust invasions, became reference points for generations. This work recalls that indigenous way of measuring life’s rhythm before colonial calendars, grounding identity in the stories that endure. It honours how memory, not imposed chronology, preserved history and belonging.
